New Mexico Highway 14
Photographs
Two lane highway (one each way), beginning at US I-40, exit 175 and finishing in Santa Fe.   A drive on this road can be very enjoyable, especially through the small town of
Madrid.  The speed limit is 50 mph at mile marker 0, 55 mph at mile marker 10, 40 mph through the town of Golden at mile marker 17, 25 mph through the town of Madrid at mile marker 28, 40 mph at mile marker 29, 55 mph at mile marker 37, 45 mph at mile marker 44, and 55 mph at mile marker 45.  Cedar Crest is located at mile marker 3.  NM Hwy 536 intersects NM Hwy 14 at mile marker 6, in San Antonito.   NM Hwy 344 intersects NM Hwy 14 at mile marker 16.  Golden is located at mile marker 17.  Around mile markers 23 through 26, the road travels around a small mountain and declines as you travel north.  Madrid is located around mile markers 28-29.  At mile marker 32, NM Hwy 14 intersects with a road that travels westwardly to Cerrillos.  At mile marker 36, NM Hwy 14 intersects with a paved road that changes to a dirt road that runs southeastwardly to Galisteo (not sure how difficult it is to travel).  The State Penitentiary is located at mile marker 43.  NM Hwy 599 intersects NM Hwy 14 at mile marker 44.  At mile marker 45, NM Hwy 14 intersects with US Interstate Hwy, at exit 278.

New Mexico Highway 217
Photographs
Two lane highway (one each way), beginning at the intersection with NM Hwy 337 (12 miles south of
Tijeras), near mile marker 18, and finishing at mile marker 14, with the intersection with NM Hwy 536, mile marker 1.  A drive on this road northwardly can be very enjoyable, over nice rolling hills, with large panoramic views of the South Mountain, the Sandia Mountains, and the Santa Fe Mountains as you drive over some of the hills.  The speed limit is 45 mph at mile marker 0, 35 mph at mile marker 11, and 45 mph at mile marker 13.  NM Hwy 217 begins eastwardly.  Yrisarri is located at mile marker 1.  At mile marker 2, the road turns northward sharply, with Martinez Road beginning at that point and running eastwardly (if you're not paying attention, you might miss the turn and get onto this road accidentally).  Near mile marker 11, NM Hwy 217 intersects with NM Hwy 333 (near mile marker 15).  This intersection is 4 miles west of Edgewood (NM Hwy 333, mile marker 19) and US Interstate 40, exit 187.  Just north of the intersection, the road travels over US Interstate 40, with no exit on or off the Interstate.  From that point on, the road is also named Mountain Valley Rd and continues on to mile marker 14, where it intersects with NM Hwy 536 (mile marker 1).

New Mexico Highway 344
Photographs
Two lane highway (one each way), beginning at US I-40, exit 187, and finishing at the intersection with NM Hwy 14.  The speed limit is 45 mph at mile marker 0, 55 mph at mile marker 1, 45 mph at mile marker 14, and 55 mph at mile marker 16.  Santa Fe Country Rd 16 (running westwardly) and NM Hwy 472 (running eastwardly) intersect NM Hwy 344 at mile marker 5.  Cedar Grove is located at mile markers 7-8.  San Pedro is located at mile marker 12.  At mile marker 14, travelling northwestardly, the road takes a steep decline until around mile marker 16 (this is a nice beautiful scene, when travelling in this direction).  At mile marker 17, NM Hwy 344 intersects with NM Hwy 14 (at its mile marker 16).

New Mexico Highway 472
Two lane highway (one each way), beginning at the intersection with NM Hwy 344, at mile marker 5, across from Santa Fe County Rd 16, and finishing 12 miles east at the intersection with NM Hwy 41, near mile marker 38, just south of Stanley.  The mile markers increase numerically from 0 to 12, eastwardly.  The speed limit is 55 mph.

New Mexico Highway 536
(aka Frost Rd)
Two lane highway (one each way), beginning at the Sandia Crest, which overlooks Albuquerque on the west side of the Sandia Mountains, and finishing 14 miles east when it changes into Santa Fe Rd 16.  The speed limit changes to 50 mph at mile marker 6 and reduces to 45 mph at mile marker 2.  Unlike most New Mexican roads, the mile markers decrease numerically as you travel eastwardly.  There is no passing on the highway, so it can be a problem if you get behind a slow vehicle.   From Sandia Crest, NM Hwy 536 winds steeply down the mountain 7 miles to Sandia Park, immediately west of
San Antonito, which is at the intersection with NM Hwy 14.  Sandia Knolls is located at mile marker 3.   At mile marker 0, the highway changes to Santa Fe County Rd 16 and continues for another 3 miles to the intersection with NM Hwy 344.

Santa Fe Country Road 16
(aka East Frost Rd)
Photographs
Two lane highway (one each way), beginning where NM Hwy 536 ends and finishing 3 miles east when it intersects with NM Hwy 344, mile marker 5, across from NM Hwy 472.   There are no mile markers, no passing, and a speed limit of 50 mph.
