United States Highway 60 US Hwy 60 begins in Arizona at the intersection with US Interstate 10, exit 31, and ends along the Atlantic Ocean in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In New Mexico, the highway mile markers begins at the Arizona border, just west of Red Hill. US Hwy 60 runs through Quemado, at the intersection with NM Highways 32 and 36, Pie Town, and Datil at the intersection with NM Hwy 12. As US Hwy 60 continues eastward, it intersects with NM Hwy 52 (which leads to the Very Large Array), passes through Magdalena and Socorro and intersects with US Interstate 25 at exit 150. US Hwy 60 and US Interstate 25 runs north together until exit 175, where US Hwy 60 breaks off at Bernardo and runs eastward again. At mile marker 168, US Hwy 60 intersects with NM Hwy 304. At mile marker 195, US Hwy 60 intersects with NM Hwy 513, which leads to the Abó Ruins at the Salinas Pueblo Missions, located 3/4 miles north of the intersection. US Hwy 60 intersects NM Hwy 55 (mile marker 62) in Mountainair near mile marker 204. US Hwy 60 intersects NM Hwy 41 at mile marker 218 and NM Hwy 42 at mile marker 219, in Willard. US Hwy 285 intersects US Hwy 60, and becomes one highway, at mile marker 249, just west of the intersection with NM Hwy 3, which runs through Encino. Around 14 miles east of that point, US Hwy 54 intersects with US Hwy 60/285 and becomes one highway, running through Vaughn (around 3 miles later). Around two miles later, US Hwy 285 breaks off, followed by US Hwy 54 breaking off. Yeso is located 33 later. Fort Sumner is located at mile marker 327, at the intersection with US Hwy 84, where the two highways become one eastbound highway. Continuing on eastward, past NM Hwy 212 and NM Hwy 272 (near mile marker 329), the highway intersects with an unknown southbound road (it might be named Billy The Kid Road - look for a sign that indicates which road to take) near mile marker 331. This road ends 3 1/2 miles south of US Hwy 60, at the intersection with NM Hwy 272, which continues to mile marker 5, where Billy The Kid's Grave and Fort Sumner Monument are located. Taiban is located at mile marker 341, at the intersection with northerly bound NM Hwy 252, just after the southern bound NM Hwy 294. Tolar is located at mile marker 346. It continues on to mile marker 41, at the intersection with US Interstate 25, exit 230. From that point, the two-lane highway (one each way) continues on at a speed limit of 55 mph until mile marker 58, where the road begins a very steep northerly winding decline and changes to 30 mph (it sometimes alternates with 25 mph). Villanueva is located at mile marker 60. Pueblo is located at mile marker 67. San Miguel is located at mile marker 69. Ribera is located at mile marker 70. From mile marker 71 to 72, the speed limit is 40 mph. NM Hwy 3 ends at US Interstate 25, exit 323. Although a nice drive, I don't recommend the part of the road north of US Interstate 40, if your vehicle has trouble with steep inclines/declines. Also, there was a home in one of the towns in that area (I don't remember which one), where the residents allowed their dogs to run out into the road, requiring a complete stop to avoid running them over.
