Armas de Los Conquistadores (Arms and Armor of the Conquistadores)
Four Centuries Of New Mexico History

Genuine examples of 15th-17th century arms and armor, as used during the Coronado and Oņate expeditions.   By the time of Coronado, the a la brida system was becoming outmoded in Europe, as firearms and crossbows made the armored knight vulnerable to infantrymen who wore no armor.  However, the Native Americans of the New World had no firearms, crossbows, or steel, and the a la brida style offered the Spanish a distinct advantage in battle.
