The Civilian Conservation Corps provided employment for more than 50,000 young men in New Mexico during the Great Depression of the 1930's. Three CCC companies were located on the grounds where the Carlsbad Hospital now stands. They worked on flood control and reclamation projects along the Pecos River and the Guadalupe Mountains, and helped build the city's "President's Park." August 2000 |
