VLA as seen from NM Hwy 166 The NRAO has also constructed the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), consisting of ten telescopes spread across the USA form Hawaii to the Virgin Islands, to simulate a telescope nearly 5000 miles in diameter. Two of the VLBA antennas are in New Mexico, at Pie Town and at Los Alamos. The administrative and scientific headquarters of both the VLA and VLBA is the Array Operations Center, located on the campus of New Mexico Tech in Socorro. March 2000 |
